Way to go Health Freedom Idaho!
Success at the Capitol!!! Our testimonies rang true to the working group!
So many freedom lovers showed up at the Capitol today. One person taking a tally showed that 25 testified in favor of protecting parental rights. 17 testified in favor of removing the faith healing exemption. Removal of this law will bring the state closer to mandating medical treatment as testified by Ada County Prosecuting Attorney Jean Fisher. The point was made many times that the state should NOT have the right to choose the healthcare of our children. It was also pointed out that medical error is the 3rd leading cause of death. The connection was clearly made between the group that is pushing for the removal of this law and Paul Offit. Paul Offit is pushing his agenda of mandating vaccines in Idaho. It was also made clear to the legislators that Mariah Walton's parents did not use faith healing in regards to the health of their daughter, as testified by her mother and sister. Therefore, her story should not be used to remove this law.
So, what was the result? Our voices were heard loud and clear!
The committee convened without making any recommendations, meaning that the exemptions will stay in statue. When the Idaho Legislature reconvenes in January 2017, the committee is required to report to the full House and Senate. Some members are expected to work over the next few months on new legislation addressing the controversy.
Executive Director Miste Karlfeldt said, "I'm so very proud of this freedom loving group. A group of citizens coming together to educate the people that represent us. Speaking the truth with educated passion and dignity.
It was beautiful and I look forward to doing it with you again."
While we can be content in our victory at the moment, we must to remember to continue the conversation with your legislators. Keep writing your legislators and the working group legislators and educate them on the real issues.
This will come up again during session and we want them to be ready!
Providing your legislators a look into the 'bigger picture' of Offit's involvement, asking questions about the implementation of the exemption and discussing the current practices of the Ada County Prosecutor to remove parental authority from those who choose alternative means of health care for their children, are all vital discussions to have with your legislators PRIOR to the busyness of the legislative session in January.
We can not let them forget how very important our health freedoms and parental rights are to us.
Paul Offit and those that he has working for him here will not give up on their mission. We need to be ever vigilant as there are those whose mission and purpose is to take away our liberty and freedom.
Many people are working 'behind the scenes' to keep everyone informed of candidates positions on health freedom issues, on incumbents voting records and coordinating educational seminars, legislative meet-ups and more.

HFI stand on "Faith Healing"
HFI doesn't take a position on the faith healing aspect per se as much as a government mandate of the health/medical care involvement toward the parent. The government should not have the power to determine a parents choice of care over the child.
